Accessibility at St. James
We are pleased to announce that we have received funding to make the Collegiate Street church universally accessible. The grant, $43,080, was provided by the Government of Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund.
The work involves building an exterior wheelchair ramp to the church entrance, and adding a lift from the church to the hall level (in the choir loft). These changes will make both our church and hall accessible to all of our parishioners and visitors who find the stairs between levels difficult. Previously, we converted a cloakroom into a wheelchair accessible washroom in the lobby of the church.
Work on this project will take place during 2010, planning on being completed before autumn.
Thank you to Paul, Jeff, and others on our Accessibility Committee for their tireless efforts to make St. James’ buildings more ‘user-friendly’, and the Government of Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund for its support.
We will keep you updated on progress.

We have also received a grant from Community Places.
Combining these grants will allow us to complete this work this year. It is scheduled to start the last week of July or August 1, and the new facility will be usable for our first Sunday back in September.
